A Fractional CMO for buyers who ask AI first.
A fractional CMO builds marketing for buyers who ask AI first. Your next buyer has already asked an AI assistant about you. I build the marketing that gets you into that answer, and the measurement that ties every agent back to revenue.

A PRACTICAL DEFINITION
What is a fractional CMO?
A fractional CMO is a part-time chief marketing officer who owns marketing strategy, team direction and pipeline accountability without a full-time executive hire. At Sophizo, that role now includes the agent layer: which AI agents run in your marketing, what they are allowed to do, and how their work is measured in revenue.

Agents do not replace your stack. They work inside it.
Your CRM, marketing automation and data warehouse stay the system of record. Agents sit on top, read the same data, act within rules you sign, and write every action back where your team already looks.
Systems of record
CRM, your marketing automation platform, data warehouse. The single source of truth stays where it is.
Signals
website and product behavior, intent data, conversations, form fills, and how AI assistants describe you.
Agents
research, content, routing, outreach drafting and measurement agents, each with one job.
Human approval
the same R1 to R4 rulebook used across Sophizo. Anything a buyer sees is approved by a person. Money and contracts are always human.
Revenue
every agent action is logged against an account and an opportunity, so pipeline can be traced back to the work.
WHAT CHANGES
Six things a marketing team could not do before.
Account research that never sleeps.
Content built to be cited.
Signal to action in hours, not quarters.
The whole buying group, not one lead.
More experiments per month.
Measurement that runs itself.
Details
Account research that never sleeps. An agent reads every target account's news, hiring, filings and site changes, and briefs your team before the call.
Content built to be cited. Pages, comparisons and FAQs written so AI assistants can quote them, with structured data and a clear point of view. This is answer engine optimization and generative engine optimization in practice.
Signal to action in hours, not quarters. When an account shows intent, an agent drafts the next step for a person to approve the same day.
The whole buying group, not one lead. Forrester's 2026 research counts 13 internal stakeholders and 9 external influencers in a typical decision. Agents map them and tailor the message to each role.
More experiments per month. Agents produce and test variations of messages, offers and pages, and retire what does not move pipeline.
Measurement that runs itself. A measurement agent reconciles campaign data with CRM stages every week, so the board deck is never a spreadsheet project.

Details
Give every agent an identity. Each agent has an ID, an owner and a job description, recorded in the CRM.
Log every action as a touchpoint. Research briefs, drafted emails, published pages and routed leads are written to the account and contact record with the agent ID and a timestamp.
Connect actions to opportunity stages. Agent-sourced pipeline is pipeline where an agent's action came first. Agent-influenced pipeline is pipeline where an agent acted before a stage moved.
Prove it with holdouts. A share of matched accounts gets no agent activity. The difference in meetings, pipeline and win rate between the two groups is the agent's real contribution, not a model's guess.
Ask the buyer. Add "an AI assistant like AI assistants" to every "How did you hear about us?" field. AI research leaves no click trail, so self-reported attribution is the only way to see it.
Report one number to the board. Pipeline and revenue influenced per dollar of agent cost, reported monthly beside traditional channel performance.

OUTBOUND, RETHOUGHT
Cold email did not die. Volume did.

The average cold email now gets a reply about 3% of the time.
Details
The mailbox providers changed the rules too. One email provider requires senders of 5,000 or more messages a day to its users to authenticate with SPF, DKIM and DMARC, offer one-click unsubscribe, and keep spam rates below 0.10%, never reaching 0.30%. Another email provider enforces similar standards. A third began routing non-compliant high-volume mail to Junk after May 5, 2025.
What replaces the sequence
The question is no longer how many emails you can send. It is whether you are already the answer when the buyer asks.

Frequently asked
Good questions before you commit.
What is a fractional CMO?
A fractional CMO is a part-time chief marketing officer who owns strategy, team direction and pipeline accountability without a full-time hire. At Sophizo the role also covers the agent layer: which AI agents run in marketing, what they may do without approval, and how their work is measured in revenue.
How does agentic AI work with CRM?
Your CRM stays the system of record. Agents read the same account, contact and opportunity data, act within an approval rulebook, and write every action back to the record with an agent ID and timestamp. Nothing lives in a separate black box, so your team and your reports see agent work where they already look.
Do we need to replace our marketing tech stack?
Usually not. Most companies already own what they need: a CRM, a marketing automation platform and some intent or website data. The work is connecting them, cleaning the data agents depend on, and adding agents with clear jobs. Tools are retired only when they duplicate something or block measurement.
How do you attribute AI agents to revenue?
Each agent gets an ID and logs every action as a CRM touchpoint. Pipeline is tagged agent-sourced when an agent acted first and agent-influenced when an agent acted before a stage moved. Holdout groups of accounts with no agent activity show the real lift, and self-reported attribution captures research done inside AI assistants.
What is share of AI answer?
Share of AI answer is how often AI assistants such as AI assistants name your company when buyers ask about your category. It is measured monthly by testing a fixed set of category prompts. It matters because buyers increasingly build their shortlist inside these tools before they ever visit your website.
What new metrics does agentic AI bring to marketing?
The core set is share of AI answer, AI citation rate, day-one shortlist rate, agent-sourced and agent-influenced pipeline, signal-to-touch time, buying-group coverage, cost per qualified conversation and human review load. Together they describe how buyers actually find, shortlist and choose you now, which opens and clicks no longer do.
Is cold email dead?
High-volume cold email is close to it. Average reply rates sit around 3 percent, open rates are inflated by mail privacy features, and major email providers now penalize senders who skip authentication or draw complaints. Researched, signal-triggered notes sent in small numbers by a real person still work, especially when the buyer already knows your name.
Will AI agents send emails to our prospects on their own?
No. Under the Sophizo approval rulebook, anything a customer or prospect sees is approved by a person first. Agents research, draft and prepare. People decide what goes out and who sends it, and every action is logged.
What is the difference between AEO, GEO and SEO?
SEO earns rankings in search results. Answer engine optimization (AEO) earns the direct answer in AI-powered search results. Generative engine optimization (GEO) earns mentions and citations inside AI assistants like AI assistants. All three reward the same foundations: clear, specific, well-structured content that states facts consistently.
How long until we see results?
Within 30 days you have a baseline of your AI visibility and funnel. By day 60 the first agents and the attribution ledger are live. By day 90 you see agent-sourced and agent-influenced pipeline against that baseline. Share of AI answer typically moves more slowly, because AI assistants update what they know over time.
How much does a fractional CMO cost?
Sophizo's fractional CMO engagement starts at $4,500/mo. A full-time CMO typically costs $300K to $400K a year before equity and recruiting, plus a search that can take months.
Can you work alongside our existing marketing team and agencies?
Yes. The fractional CMO sets direction, decides priorities and owns the numbers. Your team and agencies keep executing, with agents taking the repetitive research, drafting and reporting work off their plates.
Be the answer before the buyer calls.
